Hi, I'm Matt and I've been a PE teacher for 25 years. I have had the pleasure of working in over 10 schools teaching children from ages 3-18 years. My career started at Salesian Catholic School in Chertsey in 2001 where I was head of PE department until I joined St Richard Reynolds as Director of Sport in Twickenham. In 2013 I experienced my first PE lesson with a reception class having taught A level & GCSE predominantly for 12 years.... that was an eye opener!! 6 years later I decided to take the leap into primary schools on a permanent basis, hence my current role with Sport Impact. I currently work in 8 primary schools in Hounslow where I am employed as a 'School Sport Specialist'.

One of the most enjoyable parts of working in primary schools is running parent and child classes for children in reception. Classes are hugely rewarding because I get to know the parents and children really well and in the short time they have with me they make rapid progress. These sessions inspired me to set up MiniMovers in Guildford.

I hope that you enjoy the classes as much as the children & parents in all my schools. I can't wait to meet you and share my passion & knowledge of the past 25 years of working with children; it really is the best job in the world!

Testimonials

'Matt has worked at our school since 2019 and has made a tremendous difference to our overall PE provision. His running of our parent and child programme is hugely popular with parents and pupils and parents speak particularly highly of his expertise, fun & humour he brings to those sessions.'

Val Hurn

Head of School, Worple Primary, Isleworth

'Matt has been running our parent and child classes for the past 4 years here, at Cranford Primary. The sessions are packed with fun, energy, and engaging activities that help develop essential movement skills like balance, coordination, and agility. The best part is the parent-child bonding— our parents get to move, play, and learn with their child in a supportive and welcoming environment. Matt is a fantastic leader of the session, making every class hugely enjoyable while building the pupils (and parents) confidence and physical literacy.'

Jasmeen Bhatla

Head teacher, Cranford Primary, Hounslow

'Mr Whitfield is a highly valued member of our school and his delivery of our parent and child programme is second to none. The children in reception love spending time with him and they especially love Friday morning sessions when their parents stay after drop off and they then get to play with them during Matt's brilliantly planned FMS sessions.'
